Intact Organization of Tactile Space Perception in Isolated Focal Dystonia

Background Systematic perceptual distortions of tactile space have been documented in healthy adults. In isolated focal dystonia impaired spatial somatosensory processing is suggested to be a central pathophysiological finding, but the structure for different body parts has not previously explored. Objectives The objective this study was assess organization with novel behavioral paradigm distance perception patients and controls. Methods Three groups (cervical dystonia, blepharospasm/Meige syndrome, hand dystonia) controls estimated perceived distances between 2 touches across 8 orientations on back both hands forehead. Results Stimulus size judgments differed significantly all replicating known individuals. There were no differences parameters we assessed Conclusions Tactile comparable dystonic unaffected parts. © 2021 Authors.
